We
strongly condemn the attack on NGO workers in KPK and shows deep concern and
shock and sorrow over the loss of precious lives and sympathy with the bereaved
families. We strongly appeal to Govt. to
utilize all its potentials for arrest of the culprits. Such type of nefarious
bids and spreading violence are aimed to defame the country's image and stop to
progressive thought and work in Pakistan.
Civil
society organizations staff and volunteers urgently need the protection of the
Pakistani authorities. Without adequate effort to guarantee the safety of NGO
workers, many of their organizations will be forced to close, ending the
provision of vital services to people in need.
In
this brutal condition DASE Foundation Pakistan calls on the elected
political parties to ensure that
civil society is protected in Pakistan. In particular, DASE urges the government to ensure that the culprits of these incidents are brought to justice, the families of victims are compensated, and that the safety and security of all citizens, especially the staff of NGOs, is guaranteed.
