Zeshan's Work

Zeshan Shahzad was born in a lower middle class family on May 02, 1980 in Nawabpur district Multan, Punjab, Pakistan. When he grew up, he started understanding society and its prevailing injustices with weaker sections of society such as poor peasants, laborers, workers especially women and Non-Muslims. He is a strong believer of people freedom of rights, democratic values and social values. He is fighting for people’s rights from 20 years. He always raised his voice against social injustices as an individual. Then he formed a group of like-minded young boys and girls to fight against social injustices especially discrimination with women and religious minorities from school life. Ultimately, he thought to continue his struggle through the platform of an organization named DASE Development Organization (DDO). DASE is an Urdu word which means country. DASE Development Organization became DASE Foundation Pakistan (DFP) in 2012.

The basic element in his personality is pain for society which makes him a philosopher and a social activist. This pain gives his philosophy of life a new direction of love and romance. Now, he feels love for the persons totally ignorant for their identification, no Identity cards, no education no home and without basics of life. This philosopher and poet becomes their leader and refuse for regular life luxuries like others. He stays with them and spends time with them to understand what causes and reasons are existing to make them satisfy this brutal and vicious life. Now, he is spending time with them, making movies of them and trying to deliver his knowledge but he is feeling, there is still need to do more.

With media, he has experience of more than five years as Deputy Director, Concept Developer and Script writer in many productions. He did these particular media exercises. DFP is a non-profit organization, founded in 1992 by a group of young social activists under the leadership of Zeshan Shahzad in Nawabpur, a very backward area of district Multan. The thematic focus of the organization clearly reflects the thinking of its founding father i.e. Zeshan Shahzad.
